About Sean Odonnell

How does an ice hockey referee become a professional trumpet player, then start a career in sales? My journey started in Carlsbad, CA. My four younger siblings and I grew up playing ice hockey through high school. That's when I got my first job, which was officiating ice hockey games in the San Diego area. That taught me how to have thick skin, especially when the players, coaches or the crowd disagreed with calls I would make. I learned how to keep my composure when the pressure was on. After earning my degree in trumpet performance at Indiana University in 2012, I relocated to Chicago to begin my music career. For about ten years, I performed with orchestras and bands all over the Chicago area. I also maintained a private teaching studio of fifty students on average each year. Due to a medical issue a few years ago, I took a step back from music and began looking at other opportunities where I could apply my performance experience as an artist and a friend suggested sales. Connecting with customers and helping them find solutions are what I enjoy most about the field.
