About Sean Oreilly

Senior Journal Specialist with a track record of launching high-performing research collections and managing complex editorial operations across computer science, mathematics, and blockchain journals. At Frontiers, I oversee six sections across three journals: Frontiers in Computer Science, Applied Mathematics and Statistics, and Blockchain. I work closely with editorial leadership, as well as peer review, research integrity, and production teams, to ensure a smooth, high-quality publishing experience for authors and editors alike. My role focuses on commissioning impactful research, supporting Guest Editors, and developing thematic article collections that foster interdisciplinary collaboration. Since joining the company, I’ve launched more Research Topics than any other specialist in my journals and have represented Frontiers at major international conferences, strengthening global relationships and raising journal visibility. My sections consistently lead in submission volume, and I place quality and researcher experience at the heart of everything I do. With a BSc (Hons) in Psychology from Queen’s University Belfast and certification in nutrition, I bring a unique, human-centered perspective to scientific publishing - particularly interested in how cognition, behavior, and technology intersect. My prior experience teaching Psychology, Chinese, and English in Northeastern China deepened my global perspective and cross-cultural communication skills. I’m passionate about helping researchers share their discoveries with clarity, reach, and impact.
