About Sean Pate

Please allow me to make a brief introduction. My name is Sean Pate. I currently serve as the city manager of Bonham Texas. You will find in my portfolio, a range of experience associated with managing several municipalities. I began my city management career at 23 years of age, one of the youngest in the state of Texas. I now have over 20 + years’ experience in city government all as city manager, as well as 3 years of management experience in the commercial sector and I believe my sophistication, experience and initiative provide a dynamic combination for success. I possess a Bachelor of Science in Public Administration and a Master of Arts in Organizational Leadership. My management style is more participative in nature. I passionately believe that by creating a sense of ownership in the organization, participative management instills a sense of pride and motivates employees to increase productivity to achieve both their goals as well as the community’s goals. Both City Management and employees who participate in the decisions of the city feel like they are a part of a team with a common goal and find their sense of self-esteem and self-worth to municipal service are heightened. I have a very proficient and extensive background in Infrastructure Management, Capital Improvement Planning and Capital Financing. Bonham Texas is strategically located in the North Texas growth corridor. Currently, Fannin County (Bonham is the County Seat) has two new lakes that are providing water to the DFW Metroplex for generations to come. The growth that our area has experienced is managed by a skilled action plan that both myself and my management team have formulated. We currently have over raw acres of land under design and development within the incorporated city limits. These developments are both residential and mixed-use designs. I have carefully planned and organized for smart growth within Bonham. Bonham’s population is projected to triple in size over the next 15 to 20 years. Part of this planned growth calls for infrastructure upgrades, utility plant expansion, as well as development funding resources to build a better future for Bonham. I have an in-depth understanding of what it takes to be successful managing in different regions of the state with their unique culture, cyclical economies as well as their diversity. My experience in municipal government for the past 20 years has provided me with a unique understanding of the issues and challenges at play in the coming future for Texas communities.
