About Sean Reed

Hello! I'm an instructor at Cappella Music Academy, teaching guitar, bass, and ukulele one-on-one to over 50 students on a weekly basis. This summer will be 6 years of teaching. For me, these are the two greatest rewards of teaching, seeing the spark of excitement on a student's face when they grasp concepts, and the opportunity to become a much better learner myself. When I'm not teaching, I'm learning Computer Science. I've been studying since September of 2021 with the aim of creating new employment opportunities for myself in the future, and in the process, I've become enamored with programming and building my own applications. I've approached this effort by, in a sense, curating my own curriculum. Following several suggestions from friends and colleagues who have taken this path ahead of me, I've taken courses (Harvard's CS50x and CS50AI, C Programming); read books (Code: The Hidden Language of Computer Hardware and Software, The Art of Clean Code, The Missing Readme); and most importantly, I've designed and implemented my own projects such as a Student Log console application written in C and an Inventory Management Web Application with Django, Python, and PostgreSQL. My current efforts involve progressing in my Computer Science degree program at WGU and expanding my technical knowledge on several fronts, including Embedded Systems and Machine Learning.
