About Sean Thiel

I am currently a fourth year student at UVa pursuing a BS in Architecture, as well as a minor in both Global Sustainability and Architectural History. Throughout my studio courses, I have become proficient to advanced in the Adobe Suite, Autodesk programs (ie Revit and AutoCAD), Rhinoceros, VRay, Enscape, and more. I have a passion for sustainable design and utilizing the space-making tools we have as architects to design a more sustainable and green future. For the fall semester of the 23-24 school year, I served as a student instructor assistant for the ARCH 2710 course, Computer-Aided Architectural Design and 3D Modeling. My responsibilities included giving short lessons to students, hosting personal office hours for 3D modeling assistance, and a general aid to the professor's lectures. In the fall of 2023, I had to opportunity to participate and compete in the Associated Schools of Construction competition in Atlanta, GA, representing UVA for the Preconstruction competition, in which we took second place. In January of 2024, I worked as an intern with Wheeler Kearns Architects in Chicago, IL, contributing my skills to developing presentation drawings for completed projects, documenting site conditions, and helping curate Revit models. In the summer of 2024, I worked as an Architectural Intern at Baskervill in Richmond, VA. I contributed my design skills in a multitude of ways, including creating project renderings, conceptual models, presentations, physical models, and more. I returned to Baskervill as a winter intern for December and January of 2024-2025. In the spring of 2025, I am pursuing my undergraduate thesis, tackling the issue of disconnection in downtown Milwaukee due to the I-794 corridor.
