About Sean Tracy

I have 38 years of California State Government experience working from the staff to executive level in strategic and business planning, project and program management, administrative services, policy development and implementation, performance management, and communications. I currently serve as the California Department of State Hospital's Chief for Enterprise Risk Management. This leadership opportunity focuses on polices, programs, plans, and training to improve employee safety in our very high-risk hospital environment which provides mental health treatment and other healthcare services over inpatient psychiatric forensic patients. The employees across six facilities and over 120 community programs are responsible for individuals who come to us from prisons, jails, and courts for treatment and care. During my career, I have served a Governor, two Attorneys General, three Insurance Commissioners, three Legislative Assembly Leaders, an Agency Secretary, four Directors, three Chief Operating Officers, and three Assistant Executive Officers. In State service, I have learned the details and intricacies about ten different California State organization cultures, operations, and strategic business plans. My career mission is to make government work better for the People, and demonstrate the performance value of public service programs that build a better California. Someday I would like to teach college students interested in public service about the lessons I have learned during my career, and advance new and improved strategies and operations to restore confidence in government and public services.
