About Sean Whyte

My background as an entrepreneur and an academic allows me to bring a unique mix of practical and creative solutions to the clients I advise on litigation matters. While I have taken numerous cases to trial in both state and federal court, my practice has a special emphasis on consumer class actions, products liability, and patent litigation. I have extensive experience with class actions in the financial services industry, while my most recent consumer class action experience includes representing multiple companies in the hemp industry. For five years, I served as national, coordinating counsel for a fortune 500 company’s products liability docket, while also handling over a dozen of the most challenging cases. I also have specific industry expertise in blockchain. I advise companies on the legal implications of blockchain, based on insights from years of experience representing individual blockchains, cryptocurrency exchanges and companies building businesses with blockchain technology. I formerly served as chief operating officer and general counsel of a blockchain software development company and remain on the cutting-edge of distributed ledger technology through my industry connections. I also use my former in-house legal experience to aid early stage technology start-ups with their unique legal issues. Beyond blockchain, I represent companies in litigation and pre-litigation matters in a broad range of industries, including financial services, energy, transportation, manufacturing, retail, and healthcare. Before practicing law in Dallas, I earned my M.A. in Philosophy from Bowling Green State University and completed all the course work for a Ph.D. I taught Philosophy at various colleges before attending law school.
