Normally people tend to think of a salesman as someone, who wants to talk you into buying something really expensive, that you do not need. For some sales consultants this might be true, but not for me. For me, selling is more than just one of the means to gain money for your company. On the one hand you need social competence, because of the direct contact with the customers. You must find a way to make the customer feel comfortable when he talks to you. Furthermore you need total honesty. If the customers find out, that you lied about something, your reliability is gone for ever and they will never trust you again. On the other hand there is the knowledge of the products you are selling. This is very important from my point of view, because without knowledge you are not able to help the customer nor to gain the uttermost customer satisfaction. Because selling is a process, in which you provide your knowledge, to find the best product for their needs. Selling is my passion. Why? Simply said because of three reasons: first of all it gives me personally a good feeling, when I meet a customer again and he tells me how satisfied he is, with the product i suggested to him. The second reason is the challenge every customer represents. You have to be flexible to please everyone, who comes to you seeking your advice. And the last one is the development of the process you manage. I do not know if I am already the best salesman I can be. But I strive every day to come closer to my personal goal of becoming a great salesperson.
