About Sehajdeep Singh

My encounter with computers started back in 1st grade. I was that kid who couldn't stop asking "how does this actually work?" Fast forward to today, and I'm wrapping up my Master's in Applied Computer Science at Concordia University in Montreal, still asking the same questions but with better tools to find answers. Working at STMicroelectronics and We.PLM taught me something important: the coolest algorithm means nothing if it doesn't solve a real problem. I spent months automating test suites that were eating up everyone's time, and building analytics tools that actually helped teams make better decisions. Turns out I really enjoy that moment when something you've built makes someone else's job easier. These days I'm juggling research on continual learning (basically trying to teach AI systems to learn new things without forgetting old ones) while helping 200+ students figure out why their code isn't working. Teaching has been unexpectedly rewarding - there's something satisfying about breaking down complex ideas until they click. I gravitate toward machine learning, full-stack development, and backend systems because they each scratch a different itch. ML lets me work on genuinely hard problems, full-stack keeps me thinking about user experience, and backend work appeals to my need for things to be reliable and well-architected. Good code should work, but it should also make sense to the next person who reads it. Graduating in August 2025 and excited about what's happening in Canada's tech scene. Outside of coding, I'm learning harmonica (progress is slow but steady) and trying to keep my plants alive. Both require more patience than debugging production issues.
