Manager of 20 Bedded dementia ward • Responsible for planning, organizing, delegating and implementing nursing care within the ward • Promotion of unity and commitment by regular ward meetings. • Co-ordinate and manage the activity and resources ( such as staff, pressure relieving mattresses) within the department which will include service development, staff training, etc. • Develop strategies and service goals for the residents in conjunction with the multi-disciplinary team. • Responsible for the daily organization, delegation & supervision of the Nursing and support Staff in the ward. • Prepare weekly and monthly reports as per HIQA regulations.(key performance indicators such as falls, wounds, use of psychotropic drugs, etc). • Develop and plan activities for the residents and liaise with other departments to organize the same. • Liaise with non-clinical support staff and monitor the service provided. • Assess, plan and document the care given to patients. • Responsible for ordering drugs. • Ensure the safe custody and administration of drugs. • Responsible for ensuring HIQA compliance in all the aspects and administration of the specific care given. • Conduct 3 monthly medication audits for patients on long term psycho tropic drugs. • Audit DML care plans and feedback to nursing staff and HCA on the same. • Dealing with complaints from residents and families. • Liaison with consultant, acute hospital, family and clients on arranging admissions. • Promoting ongoing trainings on medication management, CPR, manual handling, elder abuse, etc. • Preceptor for student nurses and HCA students. • Responsible person in the ward for conducting MDT meetings for the promotion of restraint free environment. • Act as the person in charge of the hospital on a rotation basis to manage the weekends.
