About Seldon Benjamin

Dr. Benjamin is an industry expert and veteran in the field of Connectivity Solutions. With more than 25 years of experience in the field of Telecom, he has contributed to the development of technologies to enable new applications of fibre optics. He has worked across the globe in geographies such as Northern America, Africa and the Middle East and most recently APAC. Dr. Benjamin is currently with STL, where he works on innovation of fibre, cable and connectivity solutions that provide advantage in the deployments of fibre optic networks. One of the recent breakthroughs being the industry's first universal fibre "Stellar". He conducts technical workshops with global customers across MEA and APAC with the objective to help drive new technologies. Prior to STL Dr. Benjamin worked for Halliburton in the rapidly growing development and deployment of fibre optics for distributed temperature, acoustics and pressure measurement in oil wells. He also lead the development of an industry standard for hybrid fibre optic and electrical cable in a group that established the first Advanced Well Equipment Standard for fibre optic cables. Early in his career, Dr. Benjamin was with Corning Incorporated where his work spanned optical fibre, cables, connectivity and optical amplification. He was also a prominent contributor to Corning’s Performance Excellence Initiative that was credited with an impact of $1.5 billion in savings over eight years and $300 million in savings in one year. Dr. Benjamin has authored and co-authored 54 technical publications, numerous patents, and a book chapter in the field of fibre-optic communications. He has a Ph. D. in Electrical Engineering from North Carolina State University, Raleigh, NC, and a B. S. in Electrical Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Troy, NY.
