About Selene Sandoval

My years of experience have been working in the field of education in the Santa Barbara, California area. I worked professionally as a tutor for non-profit organizations as well as working community outreach positions. I have 5 years of experience working in parent-student oriented college readiness programs, tutoring in junior high schools and high schools, and working with university students as a campus learning services student tutor. I spent the last year of my work experience in Thailand as a teaching assistant in the renowned Thammasat university and spent my last months in the field of social justice related work. The experience that I have in the field of migration rights was working as a volunteer in a detention center for a non-profit in Bangkok that supported asylum seekers and refugees. My last internship in this field was with an outreach team in Amnesty International campaigning for fundraising towards Syrian refugee efforts. My colleagues and professors have come to know me as a highly motivated individual with the skill of adaptability. Besides my professional diligence, I have a record of being able to empathize with people from diverse backgrounds and being able to collaborate with others. I am truly passionate about work in the field of education, especially for underrepresented minorities and bridging the inequality gap for students regardless of socioeconomic status, race, ethnicity or gender. I am a graduate from the University of California, Santa Barbara with a BA.
