About Seneca Grant

I am a professional wrestling referee and Creative Writer on the independent circuit. While my past experience centers around the Greater Philadelphia area, I have also worked in Pittsburgh, as well as the states of New York, New Jersey, Delaware, and West Virginia. My work in Creative Writing began in 2011 as a freelance contributor for 1wrestling.com via Bill Apter. I started off by writing news columns and eventually added independent event results and an opinion piece on all things wrestling to my portfolio. From here, I continued to freelance for several other wrestling news sites and podcasts such as "Voice of Choice" and The Sports Courier. From 2014-2015, I worked for a Philadelphia based promotion as both a Writer/Producer and a referee. This promotion wanted a TV-style production for their weekly program that was streamed online, as well as for a recap/promo show that streamed on weekends. In this role, I was tasked with collaborating with talent, administrators, and other members of the Creative Team to come up with original, compelling storylines to be played out in the ring and through backstage segments. I helped direct and co-produce the tapings themselves during this time. In addition, I have an extensive portfolio of "fantasy wrestling" that I have written throughout my life and professional career. This portfolio contains my most in-depth work over an extended period of time. The portfolio displays my understanding of the pro wrestling business, as well as show formatting and TV production. My professional wrestling career as a Referee started in February 2010 in Philadelphia and since then, I have appeared for several independent promotions in the Philadelphia Tri-State area (including South New Jersey and North Delaware). This is where my most extensive work has been completed. In addition, I was able to gain experience in the Pittsburgh and West Virginia markets by traveling with my trainers. My biggest bookings to date were in 2011 and 2014. In 2011, I was hired by Steve Karel's Urban Wrestling Federation, a niche start-up promotion based out of New York. I was hired as a referee and booked for two sets of tapings in New York City. The first set was filmed at the Manhattan Center's Hammerstein Ballroom in June while the second was filmed at Manhattan's Club Amnesia in December. These tapings aired on national Pay-Per-View in the United Stated between June 2011 and June 2012. In 2014, I was booked by Masked Republic for a one-time internet Pay-Per-View. The show broadcast Live online from the ECW Arena in Philadelphia, PA.
