Background

About Serdar V.

I am an award-winning investigative multimedia journalist at the Environment Desk of Deutsche Welle. I focus on cross-border projects related to environmental crimes, the climate crisis, corruption, and tax evasion. I bring a global perspective to my work, having grown up in Turkey before studying political philosophy in Buenos Aires, Argentina. After spending 15 years working across Brazil, Argentina, and Chile, I moved to Germany in 2019 with the aim of applying my investigative skills to major global challenges. I love to break down complex narratives into compelling stories that resonate with a wide audience. I enjoy producing with video explainers and other multimedia formats to present in-depth investigations in an accessible and engaging manner. My true passion lies in uncovering truth and shedding light on important issues that impact people and the planet. Investigative reporting is a collaborative effort, and I work closely with many committed colleagues at Deutsche Welle as well as other organizations such as the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists (ICIJ) and the Organized Crime and Corruption Reporting Project (OCCRP). With my unique cross-cultural lens and dedication to truthful and impactful journalism, I want to continue to inform audiences on critical global issues.
