Serena Guidobaldi Born in Rome, Italy, in 1969, I am a freelance journalist, writer, and cook. My career includes working in media relations for the Italian Chamber of Deputies and for several children's book and comic book publishers. As a specialist in comics and humor, I have focused on the historical and social aspects of these fields, teaching History of Comics and Humor from 1995 to In 1989, I served as the Art Director for the Biennale Internazionale dell'Umorismo nell'Arte in Tolentino (MC). Between 1989 and 2003, I curated and organized numerous exhibitions dedicated to humor, satire, and comics. As a writer, I have authored graphic novels and illustrated books published by Cierre Editrice, Macchia Nera, Alessandro Editore, and SAF Comics USA. I have also worked as a television writer for the Italian channels Rai Gulp, Raisat Smash, and Raisat Smash Girls. As a freelance journalist, I specialize in the history and culture of food and nutrition, exploring how local culinary traditions shape identity and society. Since 2005, I have traveled extensively to study the role of food as a tool for gender equality and women's empowerment in developing countries. In 2008–2009, I attended a professional cooking school to deepen my understanding of food and nutrition, focusing on Italian regional traditions, local ingredients, and the science of aromatic compounds. I have taught at various institutions, including the Istituto d'Arte Culinaria Cordon Bleu, where I delivered courses on the Anthropology and History of Food, as well as IUL University (Master in Food Journalism, Undergraduate Program in Culinary Arts, Anthropology of Food) and the University of Gastronomic Sciences (Master in Food Culture, Communication & Marketing and Food Innovation & Management). Currently, I am a visiting professor at the University of Gastronomic Sciences, teaching: Master in New Food Thinking – Food Communication (English) Master in Food Culture, Communication & Marketing – Editing Food Media (English) My novel L'Appetito (Eris Ed.), illustrated by Giuseppe Palumbo, was published in June 2020. My essay Cibo e Identità: Identity in the Age of Gastronomical Reproduction (Eris Ed.) was released in July 2021. I am currently working on a new essay about the Italian Sounding phenomenon and its cultural implications, slated for publication in 2025.
