Background

About Serena Lozandi

I am a Biology graduate from the University of South Florida St. Petersburg and a proud alumna of the Judy Genshaft Honors College. At USF St. Pete, I learned as much as I could outside of the classroom as I did inside of one, working as Executive Director for the Multicultural Programming Board and a Social Media Assistant for the Marketing and Communications department. Thanks to the Judy Genshaft Honors College, I utilized my opportunity to study abroad in Europe and conducted my Honors Thesis on Barriers to Studying Abroad. With a passion for health, diversity, equity, and inclusion, I acted as a student leader, serving various executive board positions for the Health Education Action Team, The USFSP Poetry Club, Asian American and Pacific Islander Association, and the Latin American Student Association. With these experiences, I was able to connect with students, staff, faculty, and local community members. I continue to be inspired by them as I continue growing and forging my path through my career goals.Currently, I work as a lab preparation team member for the Integrative Biology department and conduct research on the effects of known pathogens and supplements on the gut microbiome. My interests include microbiology, infectious disease research, and public health research. I intend to pursue advanced graduate training to further develop my research and impact in these areas.
