About Sergey Morozov

My professional journey began twelve years ago as a biologist at the University of Helsinki. As time passed, I found myself increasingly drawn to method and tool development, finding it more fulfilling than addressing fundamental scientific questions. This shift in focus led me to enroll at Metropolia UAS, where I deepened my knowledge in electronics engineering and software development. Simultaneously, I took the lead in designing open-source software and DIY equipment for biologists which evolved into an official PhD project at the University of Helsinki (see fishresp.org). Since then, I have been organizing open electronics courses and STEM workshops for researchers, students, and children, inspiring them to design functional prototypes for research and education. In the final year of my BEng degree, I seized an opportunity to work as a Test Engineer at Vaisala. This role allowed me to truly find my footing in the realm of research and development (R&D), where I continually learn and apply best practices in embedded system testing to ensure the excellence of company’s products.
