About Sergio Velez

I am a Civil Engineer who grew up watching how infrastructure shapes the daily lives of communities. That curiosity turned into a career: today, I manage projects that bring clean water to thousands of families, create safe roads in rural provinces, and design urban parks where entire cities gather. From a $500K water & sanitation system protecting residents from seasonal floods, to a $1.7M linear park in Guayaquil leading a team of 10+ professionals, to a $22M city-scale recreational park in Manta, my work has always been about one thing: building projects that improve people’s lives.I thrive at the intersection of engineering and leadership—coordinating teams, negotiating with municipalities at the mayoral level, and engaging directly with communities. Each challenge reminds me that technical expertise matters, but what truly drives progress is the ability to listen, adapt, and lead with purpose. Now, as I pursue my Master in Management at IE Business School (Madrid), I’m expanding my global perspective to continue transforming ideas into sustainable urban solutions. My goal is simple: to keep building spaces where cities can grow, and people can thrive.
