About Sesan Michael Johnson

As a social historian of medicine, Sesan Michael JOHNSON adopts interdisciplinary approaches in researching pandemics, epidemics, global health, international health systems, and public health modeling. He's an award-winning researcher/historian. In March 2018 he received Brian Bertotti Awards from Virginia University of Technology, USA in recognition for his innovation in historical scholarship. He was one of the 3 finalists of the 2019 McCarthy Award for History of Medicine Research by the Royal College of Physicians, University of Edinburgh, Scotland. In 2021 he won a research fund as a member of the History of Health and Social Justice Research Group, Department of History, University of Saskatchewan, Canada and in 2021 he also won the Welcome Trust Research Fund for History of Medicine, University of Newcastle, UK. In 2022/2023, he is a recipient of the Interdisciplinary Studies - Devolved Scholarship at the University of Saskatchewan, Canada. As a SCRUM master and Product owner, he has expertise in AGILE methodologies in the development of websites, web office solutions, and e-Learning systems. He is presently exploring applications of AGILE frameworks in public health systems. and research communities. As a News Analyst with over 100 annual radio and TV appearances, he speaks to millions of people while engaging and analyzing news items with proven data and pragmatic insights. His expertise includes news sourcing, mining, and authorization. He has appeared as an analyst on NTA Ibadan, Impact Business Radio (92.5 FM), LeadCity FM, BCOS TV, Oluyole FM, Impact Africa Television, NAIJA FM, Beat FM, etc. In 2022, he presented “Emergency Politics: Pains, Deaths, and Burials in Times of COVID-19 Pandemics in Nigeria”, at the American Graduate School, Paris. In 2019 he presented a paper to the "Shaped by the Sea: Histories of Ocean, Science, Medicine and Technology" at the University of Manchester. On October 17, 2019, he gave an Award Talk during the 2019 McCarthy Award for History of Medicine Research at the Royal College of Physicians, Edinburgh.
