About Seth Atkinson

I am a critical thinker and collaborator who is always looking to improve my work relationships and business processes. This is very important to me because I truly believe that we CAN, SHOULD, and NEED to do better for ourselves, our company, and the world we live in. I do well for myself by doing well by others. I grew up in a family that LOVES to debate and argue about anything you could possibly argue about; from the best pizza joint in town, to what technologies would succeed or fail, to everything in between. My competitive drive to always be right, challenged me to learn more about the topics I would debate. What I found was, the quickest way to learn something, was to actively listen to others who disagreed with me. I learned that, through debating and discussion, I have been able to learn so much more than I have from simply “Googling” topics and finding the “facts” I could use to best represent my understandings of a topic. It is easy to research something that will support your preconceived idea and opinion and presenting that data to “win” your argument. It is harder to have your opinion of something challenged by discussing it with someone who holds an opposing viewpoint, and actively listening to what they have to say and their reasoning behind it. This is a skill that I have worked to improve over the course of my life, and it has helped me be more informed and empathetic toward others and their personal beliefs. I enjoy building relationships with people via mutual respect and civility. Doing so has helped me open my mind and gain new perspectives and ideas, which I can implement into innovative solutions. Together, through collaboration in a respectful environment, I have noticed improved efficiency, a higher level of ideas, reduced resistance to new ideas, and a better overall team attitude in and out of the office.
