My current role with Office Depot involves supervising, helping customers with technology and business services and of course and office supplies. I mainly work in the technical department, helping customers choose the best products for their needs and do computer repair. When I am not helping with tech, I focus on helping our business clients with printing for their businesses. The most rewarding part of the last few years was helping teachers and parents through the pandemic when schools became work from home. I was able to help many small business owners and teachers learn how to use Zoom, and help small business owners stay connected to their clients. Over the course of nine years, I worked part-time for a small web hosting company, Hostica.com. As a Hostica Help Desk Analyst, I handled customer service requests. Small companies, as you know, often require people to wear many hats. I adapted to our customers' needs. I worked doing technical and billing customer support on some days, sometimes assisting customers with email issues, DNS, or malware issues on their websites. I became proficient in WordPress and Joomla web CMSes, I assisted Level 2 with website migrations and even helped set up Kayako when it moved from classic to the cloud-based version. In addition to my current position and experience with Hostica, I managed a small community VPN from 2013-2018. The VPN was OpenVPN-based, connected to a Radius server for authentication, and tied to a WHMCS backend where payments and tickets were managed. It was my responsibility to manage this, but I did have help with scripts and with setting up the system. I was the sole helpdesk operator for this project, assisting 20-50 clients per day. I was also responsible for deploying the custom OpenVPN software on new servers. At the peak, there were 21 servers across the world.
