About Seth Finkel

A lifelong love of all things outdoors led me to Virginia Tech's College of Natural Resources and Environment, where I completed coursework in forestry, wildlife management, zoology, ecology, evolutionary biology, environmental interpretation, GIS, policy, law, and more. During my time at Virginia Tech, I achieved Dean's List, served as the treasurer for VT's Jewish Student Union for three years, and served as the risk manager and president of Alpha Epsilon Pi, Sigma Alpha Chapter. I also assisted several graduate students with their research endeavors in various capacities in addition to completing internships with the federal government, the private sector, and my university. After graduating from Virginia Tech, I headed north to Michigan Tech's College of Forest Resources and Environmental Science to begin work on my Master's. I was advised by Dr.'s Jared Wolfe and David Flaspohler and studied display site selection in ruffed grouse (Bonasa umbellus) in the upper Great Lakes region while working as a wildlife assistant with Michigan Dept. of Natural Resources. I am now employed as a project coordinator with the Ruffed Grouse Society & American Woodcock Society, where I organize habitat improvement for early-successional wildlife species, wildlife population monitoring efforts, and hunter access projects. In my free time, I enjoy backpacking, birding, skiing, ice fishing, and cooking.
