Background

About Seth Grant

Seth Grant is a full-time Deputy Sheriff with the King County Sheriff's Office, the third-largest police agency in the state of Washington. Based on his exemplary performance as a field trainer, Seth earned a position at the Basic Law Enforcement Academy, at the Washington State Criminal Justice Training Commission. He was part of a small, dynamic team that trained officers for the entire state! In his role as TAC, which stands for Teacher - Administrator - Coach, Seth taught academy recruits in both a classroom setting and in hands-on practical training. He motivated, evaluated, and mentored the new recruits while acting as their direct first-line supervisor. In 2007, Seth completed a full teaching term at the police academy and stayed on with the Training Commission in a more administrative role. He helped coordinate instruction at the basic academy and developed curriculum for various programs at the WSCJTC. Seth was recognized as the Washington State 2008 Instructor of the Year for his work on these massive and important projects. He was the project lead for the creation of an advanced instructor training program, he oversaw the complete redevelopment of the Corrections Officer Academy, and was instrumental in several other projects. After six years serving at the Training Commission, in 2010 Seth took a position on the Aircraft Rescue Fire Fighting Unit (ARFF) at the King County International Airport, which is staffed by full-time deputies of the Sheriff's Office. The ARFF Unit provides both police and fire/rescue services for the airport. Seth is IFSAC certified as Firefighter I, II, & HAZMAT Ops. He's also a nationally-certified EMT. This new phase of his career offered Seth an even deeper exposure to the "fire side" of emergency service. Seth has also served a term as the ARFF Unit's primary training officer, where he once again applied his passion for teaching and leadership. In 2022, Seth took over as the KCSO's Department EMS Coordinator, managing EMT certification, licensing, curriculum, training, and medical report documentation. Seth provides oversight for around 100 EMTs in the KCSO and in King County's Search and Rescue volunteer groups. In 2023, Seth transferred to the Sound Transit Division of the King County Sheriff's Office. The KCSO provides enhanced law enforcement services in partnership with local jurisdictions, to Sound Transit systems facilities and vehicles, addressing quality of life issues and creating a safe environment for the riding public.
