About Seth Jones

I am an experienced leader and forward thinker, utilizing my skills and passion for electric cooperative principals to help advance the industry to the benefit of the members we serve. In my current role, I serve as the Engineering Supervisor at Southwestern Electric Cooperative. Here, I lead the engineering group responsible for the design and implementation of transmission and distribution facilities. This requires me to work closely with executive leadership to plan and budget large scale capital projects to the benefit of our members. Prior to this role, I was Engineering Manager at Jackson Energy Cooperative, where I managed all aspects of engineering at the cooperative. This includes: load analysis and reporting, protection and coordination, field design for overhead and underground electric utilities, GIS mapping and data management, and joint use. I have nearly 10 years of experience working in the electric cooperative space. I started as a student mapping tech while I was in college, and was able to come back as a staking engineer a couple of years after graduating. Over the years, I moved from staking engineer to staking supervisor, and recently, I have earned the opportunity to lead the entire engineering department. I graduated from Eastern Kentucky University in 2014 with a bachelor’s degree in Geography and a university certification in GIS and Remote Sensing. I graduated with a second bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering: Power Systems from Arizona State University in 2023. To round out my educational journey, I recently obtained my MBA through Southern New Hampshire University.
