About Seth Osborn

I am a music teacher, craftsman, hiker, camper, writer, musician, and visual artist.I have many years of experience developing collaborative projects, writing grants and fundraising, developing strategies for outreach and advertising, generating and working within a budget, coordinating teams, planning events and working to create and follow timelines. As a music educator I have run my own business for seventeen years, handling all billing, scheduling, planning of events and recitals, and developing curricula by working with children and adults to develop a high level of musical competence while nurturing creativity and enjoyment in each student. I have created my own advertising campaigns by using social media and other media outlets to build and maintain a student roster of nearly forty students per week. My students have gone on to major in music at universities, to win piano competitions in the National Guild of Piano Teachers, and to compose music that has won local and statewide competitions. As a teacher, I use clear verbal and written communication as well as patience and good interpersonal skills to educate, inspire, listen, and adapt to different students’ needs. In 2012 I fundraised all of the money necessary to record my album “Huya Ania,” recruiting and auditioning sixteen musicians and running all recording sessions with the help of a skilled producer. I finished and released the album in 2013 and made it available on all streaming platforms. In 2017 I worked with Penfold Theater to produce performances of the play “An Iliad” which was set to my original score performed by an ensemble I led at each show. I was nominated for the B. Iden Payne Award for that score and my work with the ensemble. I applied for and was awarded the City of Austin Cultural Development Grant in 2019 to put on a performance of my album “Huya Ania” with a full ensemble and a slideshow of my original photography.As a craftsman on a historical restoration team I have been responsible for coordinating and prioritizing multiple tasks, and developing strategies to complete projects efficiently and to a very high standard within a set budget. Because of my detail-oriented work ethic, devotion to quality, and high placement in the Window Preservation Alliance’s annual restoration competition, I was chosen to deliver presentations to the Texas Historical Commission and to lead workshops on window restoration and preservation. I am as comfortable working alone and staying on task for long stretches of time as I am working with a team of craftsmen.
