Background

About Sethe Zachman

I have a Bachelors in Sociology with a specialization in Law, Justice and Social Change from U-M LSA Spring 2019. I worked with Developmental Enhancement Behavioral Health from 2020 through 2022 as a Registered Behavior Technician administering Applied Behavior Analysis, including Skills Based Treatment to children and teens with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) in Grand Rapids, Michigan before re-entering the field of academia via the University of Nebraska-Lincoln's Sociology Department. I use qualitative and quantitative methods to examine topics of interest such as social pressures driving the construction of sexuality, gender identity, mental disorders, and eurocentrism. I am interested in how psychological patterns are associated with certain social identities. Currently a Masters Student in UNL's Sociology PhD program, I am completing my mixed-methods Master's Thesis examining American opinions on the legitimacy of transgender existence via the frameworks of biological essentialism and religious fundamentalism. I am considering returning to the field of Applied Behavior Analysis with hopes of increasing autistic representation in the ABA field, and improving the lives and social connections for kids, youth and adults with autism.
