About Seval Bekiroglu

I qualified as a social worker from Hacettepe University, the oldest and most prestigious school of social work in Turkey, in 2009. In 2013, I completed my master's degree at Ankara University, where I examined the difficulties experienced by families of neuromuscular patients through quantitative methods. In 2018, I obtained my PhD at Hacettepe University with a mixed-methods study exploring the social functionality of individuals with severe mental illness who received services from Community Mental Health Centers in Ankara. Throughout my professional career, I have accumulated nearly 10 years of practice experience as a social worker within various healthcare settings of the Turkish Ministry of Health, including patient rights units, hospital social services units, and community mental health centers, as well as central units of the Ministry. This experience has provided me with extensive expertise in medical and community-based mental health social work practices. In 2019, I was employed as a lecturer in the Department of Social Work at Baskent University (Ankara, Turkey) and was awarded the title of Associate Professor in 2022. Due to relocation to Germany, I am now attending intensive German language training, and I am highly motivated to continue my professional career in Germany. I am particularly enthusiastic about contributing to research projects and/or civil society organisations, especially in the provision and development of services for women and individuals with severe mental illness.
