About Shae Riches

G'day! My name's Shae Riches and I'm a recent graduate of General Assembly's Software Engineering Immersive. I believe that a good story is everything, such as - “One day, a bunch of monkeys smash some rocks flat, then blast lightning into them. Hey presto, you’ve got pseudo-sentient rocks.” - what sounds like science-fiction, is actually a truncated history of computers. I’ve an insatiable hunger for learning, something that has driven me from one industry to another - each step giving me so much, yet still not enough. Every challenge drives me to pursue harder challenges, to find more complex and detailed problems to overcome. In two days I learnt how to do a job that people usually intern at for 4 years - and then I did it better than the person before me. Not my words, they came from the Production Manager. I have thrived on this process and now, coming to the Tech world, the only thing I find difficult to understand is how I wasn’t here sooner. The industry’s shared excitement around endless possibilities is exhilirating, and something I want to contribute to. When a good story is everything, and technology is the forefront of human evolution, who wouldn’t want to be a part of it?
