About Shahla de Leon

Experienced public health professional pairing love, humor, and hard work to bring about social change. As a consultant to philanthropic, non-profit organizations, and public entities, I bring tools from the toolkit of evaluation, learning, and strategy, to guide efforts that enhance impact, center communities most directly impacted, and promote racial justice. Working with partners to shift, share, and ultimately redefine structures of power, I believe in healthy vibrant communities, accessible, culturally relevant, high-quality care, and lives defined by the dreams realized by the dreamers. I believe in collectively dismantling systems of oppression and advancing liberation through hard work and unwavering advocacy, uplifting and working alongside BIPOC leaders. And, I believe that data, storytelling, and humble learning in earnest can pave the way for social sector organizations to align with communities. As a consultant and researcher, I support a range of organizations to leverage data and learning in service of reproductive justice, early childhood education and development, behavioral health and trauma informed care, and positive youth development. As a doula, peer-to-peer mentor, advocate, and volunteer, at the intersection of academic, professional and lived experience, I work towards birth justice, taking a systems lens to ensuring that all women and birthing people are supported before, during, and after pregnancy and so their babies are born healthy and able to thrive. Outside of my professional life, you'll find me teaching and training martial arts, on a dance floor, and trying to raise the next generation of kind humans.
