About Shaista Jaffer

My journey in finance is driven by a deep curiosity about the financial decisions that shape our world and a commitment to sharing this knowledge. As a Ph.D. Candidate in Finance, I combine my roles as a Part-time Professor of FinTech and a Teaching Assistant for Financial Accounting, Corporate Finance, and other related subjects to bridge the gap between academic theory and practical application. I believe that education should go beyond the classroom, preparing students not just for exams, but for the real-world challenges they will encounter in their careers. In my teaching, I emphasize clarity and relevance, using real-world examples to make complex financial concepts accessible and engaging. At the Financial Consumer Agency of Canada, my research focuses on projects that directly impact financial consumer protection and policy development. I work on understanding how financial institutions and regulations can better serve consumers, and how innovative solutions can create more equitable financial systems. My work is grounded in a rigorous analytical approach, drawing from my background in management, economics, and mathematics to offer insights that are both theoretically sound and practically applicable. Throughout my career, I’ve been committed to making a tangible impact—whether it’s through educating future finance professionals or contributing to research that informs public policy. Rather than just telling you that I’m passionate about finance and education, I demonstrate it through my teaching methods, research projects, and the outcomes they achieve. My goal is to continue contributing to the field of finance, particularly in the evolving areas of FinTech and financial regulation, and to help others navigate the complexities of financial decisions with confidence and clarity.
