About Shakil Mahmud

As a Graduate Research Fellow at University of Alberta, I am passionate about developing and testing innovative e-textiles for various applications in healthcare, protection, and sportswear. I have a Master of Science in Textiles and Clothing, and I have published multiple papers in prestigious journals on smart materials, fabric properties, and textile sludge. Prior to joining UAlberta, I worked as a Senior Merchandiser at Meghna Executive Holdings, a leading apparel manufacturing company in Bangladesh, for three years. I oversaw the entire production process, from yarn purchasing to final product packaging, and solved technical and production issues. I also introduced new technologies and systems, such as technical printing and embroidering, and improved the sample rejection rate by 15%. I have over six years of hands-on experience in the textile and apparel industry, with expertise in fabric research and development, merchandising, testing, quality management, sourcing, and supply chain management. I have strong communication, procurement, and problem-solving skills, and I am always eager to learn and collaborate with others. My goal is to contribute to the advancement and sustainability of the textile and apparel sector.
