About Shamsa al Sheibani

Dr. Shamsa Masoud Nasser Al Sheibani joined Ominvest as the Vice President of Economics Research in December 2019. She is a member of the management committee and in addition, she was assigned the responsibilities of the Chief Risk Officer for 6 months in H2 2020. She is a member of the main committee for assessing scientific research in the Omani Economic Association. She is also a Senior Deputy member in the “Future Jobs and Skills” Project @WEF. She has about 20 years of experience in the Banking and Financial Services Sector in Risk Management, Change Management & Private Banking. Prior to that, she was a member of the senior management in National Finance Company (Associate of OMINVEST); heading the Risk Management Department for 5 years from 2011 to 2015 reporting to Audit and Risk Management Committee and to the CEO on administrative issues. She also worked for esteemed banks, namely Oman International Bank, Alliance Housing Bank, and National Bank of Oman. Dr. Shamsa earned her Ph.D. in July 2020 from the University of Reading, in which she was a full-time Ph.D. researcher from 2016-2019. Her Ph.D. research won the Ambassadors Award as the best Ph.D. research in 2017 and won the People Choice Award at the University of Reading Annual Ph.D. Conference in 2016. She graduated with distinction in her MBA from the University of Strathclyde specialized in Finance and Risk Management in 2007. She also earned distinction in her BSc. Economics and topped her batch when she graduated from the College of Commerce and Economics in Sultan Qaboos University in 2002.
