About Shan Browne

I'm a dedicated child and youth empowerment specialist, currently pursuing my Bachelor's in Child and Youth Care (CYC) at Toronto Metropolitan University, who believes in the power of community, storytelling, and healing. Historically, I have committed myself to spaces that enlighten my path to driving change and committing to a deep understanding of the systems that require an Anti-oppressive and Anti-black political lens. I am passionate about young people feeling seen, heard, and supported, especially those navigating systemic barriers. Whether it’s through research, mentorship, or advocacy, I aim to create spaces where youth can thrive, discover their voice, and lead with confidence. Over the past four years, I’ve been deeply involved in leadership, policy advocacy, and community-based research. Throughout my work, I’ve remained grounded in values of care, cultural humility, and relationship-building. I’ve gained experience in stakeholder engagement, policy development, conflict resolution, and project management.
