About Shanda Halonen

Hello! I’m an actuarial analyst currently pursuing my designation through the CAS. I have a passion for problem-solving and continuous learning. I began my studies at Laurentian University in Ontario, then transferred to Dalhousie University in Nova Scotia to complete my degree after my original program was discontinued. That journey shaped both my adaptability and determination. During my studies, I gained hands-on experience through two actuarial internships - one in pricing and one in reinsurance - both with the company I’m proud to now work for full-time. Over the past few years, I’ve continued to grow professionally in a supportive, challenging environment where I’ve had the opportunity to apply my education to real-world problems. Outside of work, you’ll often find me in the gym or experimenting in the kitchen - these are my favorite ways to recharge and stay balanced.
