About Shane Benson

Shane is a Sydney Drummer, known best for his work with Sydney Alternate Rock band Teal, as well as touring with various Sony pop artists, such as Taylor Henderson, Samantha Jade & Reece Mastin. As a teenager, Shane always imagined himself playing and touring in bands. This path began, when he started playing in various local bands, alternating in different styles from rock, pop, funk and Jazz. Experimenting with a range of genres has given Shane the tools to adapt himself in any musical situation. • Performed on the 2014 season of The Voice as the house percussionist for the live show period. • Teal Supported Sydney post rock band sleepmakeswaves on their 12 date National Tour around Australia in October 2014. • 2014 saw him step up to a music directing roll for X Factor 2013 Finalist - Taylor Henderson. Taylor supported MKTO on their national tour in April / May 2014, and he also headlined 2 of his own national tours. 2015 is set to be a huge year. • Collaboration with Sydney Producer BRAVE began in early 2014. The band toured nationally that year with Safia, and Citizen Kay. Brave released 2 Singles off the back of the EP and 2 video clips for ‘What About Me’ and “Real Love’. • Teal had the privilege to support Dead Letter Circus, The Butterfly Effect, and 12 Foot Ninja on National tours. • Joined Sydney band Teal in early 2013. • Touring with emerging artists such as Reece Mastin, Samantha Jade, Dami Im & Nathaniel Willemse. He has also worked with other artists such as Sarah De Bono, Dane Rumble (NZ) • Spent time in LA studying with Dave Elitch (Mars Volta, Miley Cyrus) and in NYC at the Drummers Collective under Frank Katz. He was also recognized for his talents and offered a half scholarship by The Berklee College of Music.
