About Shane Buckley

Here is a glimpse of my career journey from professional rugby to logistics leadership. Starting with a dream at 13, I earned a spot in the Munster academy while managing university studies. Stepping back from daytime college in 2011, I pursued night school, eventually earning the Munster academy player of the year award and a degree in Human Resources by 2014. I remained a professional rugby player for 11 years. When Covid disrupted rugby in 2020, I embraced the additional time as an opportunity at Southgate, starting from the bottom to understand the business inside out. Climbing the ranks, I set up a subsidiary of Southgate and now serve as Director at Southgate European Logistics, overseeing operations in mainland Europe and fostering a professional yet inclusive environment. The most rewarding aspect? Engaging with a diverse clientele and team, building a global family at Southgate. While rugby may be behind me, martial arts have become my new passion, alongside other sport travel adventures. Excited to connect with fellow logistics enthusiasts, colleagues and clients. Cheers!
