About Shane Cassidy

I am a music therapist with over fifteen years’ experience in health and educational settings. I am the founder and director of Neurolinks Music Therapy in Dublin, which seeks to support adults and children who are living with a neurological condition. My clinical experience lies primarily in the neuro-rehabilitation and mental health settings. I received my PhD from the University of Limerick in 2020, in which I examined the impact of specific music therapy techniques in improving both the physical and mood related outcomes for participants with an acquired brain injury at the National Rehabilitation Hospital, Dublin. Prior to the PhD, I completed an MA in Music Therapy at the University of Limerick, where I am now a regular guest lecturer. I have four years’ experience within the areas of mental health, addiction and homelessness through my work with First Fortnight Centre for Creative Therapies in Dublin. I am a qualified primary school teacher with experience in a variety of mainstream and special educational settings. I grew up with music playing a big part in my life, studying the piano and clarinet from an early age. This led me to pursue a degree in Music at Trinity College, Dublin.
