Shane German is the Music & Programming Director at WYCE, 88.1 FM - A Watt community radio station located in Grand Rapids, Michigan and streaming worldwide at wyce.org. Shane also hosts a weekly show called New Standards which airs every Sunday from 6-8PM. Prior to his work at WYCE, Shane has had extensive music industry experience in a variety of fields. Between 2004 and 2012, Shane worked as Manager of Artist and Label Relations at SoundExchange and personally identified and resolved tens of millions of dollars in royalties to recording artists and sound recording copyright owners from digital, satellite, and streaming internet radio services. Shane has over twenty years of music industry experience as a product buyer, royalty and data analyst, outreach coordinator, artist & label relations manager, and nationally released recording artist and is proud to have built solid personal and professional relationships with a wide array of labels, recording artists, publishers, new media companies, business managers, attorneys, trade associations, and performance rights societies from around the world. In 2010, Shane implemented a track level claiming program for record labels and recording artists to claim misreported titles and repertoire and identify bad data from licensees. Participation in this program saw over $5 million in royalties allocated to royalty recipients. In addition to serving as artist outreach consultant for the musicFIRST Coalition, Shane has been invited to speak and participate as a panelist and moderator at many industry events and was Guest Lecturer at Loyola University’s Music Business Program in New Orleans. An expert in his field, Shane is current and knowledgeable on Performance Rights issues and is a dynamic and passionate public speaker and has been featured in American Songwriter magazine and Spin.com. Shane served on the Board of Governors for the DC Chapter of the Recording Academy and served for two years as a Board Member and Gala Co-Chair for Metro DC PFLAG.
