About Shane Layt

My name is Shane Layt and I have worked in Integrated Logistic Support for Defence and Defence industry for over 30 years. I served 21 Years in the Army, leaving in 1997 as a Warrant Officer. I then went to Tenix Defence Systems to work on the ANZAC Ship Project and after a short time due to my extensive computer skills, I was promoted to the ILS Data Manager position for the project. I left Tenix in August to work with a great bunch of ex Defence colleagues at Logistic Engineering Services (LES) and worked on numerous Defence Projects in my role as Training Manager and Senior Logistic Engineer. I taught well over 600 students in the art and disciplines of ILS and the various Logistic Support Analysis (LSA) tools and techniques that underpin ILS. I took on a new challenge as the ILS Product Technical Manager for Rheinmetall-MAN Military Vehicle Australia (RMMVA) in Dec 2014 but after 14 months, I moved to KBR and was employed onto Land 121 Phase 4 as the ILS Technical Specialist. I now work for QinetiQ here in Melbourne and I am enjoying the challenges that this role has presented. The diversity of the work is fantastic and the team at QinetiQ second to none. I am married to the most beautiful and talented lady (Deb) who is a passionate Textile Artist / Patchwork and Quilter. We have 7 Children, 18 Grandchildren and now the first of our Great Grandchildren. Portfolio includes, but not limited too: ILS/LSA Specialist delivering ILS Training, including LORA, LCCA, RAM(T), MRD, RCM, ME, SE, Spares Optimisation, FMECA/FMEA, LSAR, CSDB IETP, TECH DOC (EMEI, UHB, CES, RPS etc) Configuration Management, Codification and Cataloguing, Project Management, Tender Support, Training Needs Analysis, Training Design & Development, Training Delivery and Assessment, Software Design and Interface Development, Computer Graphics and Animation, including CorelDraw / Designer / XVL Studio, Photoshop and Adobe Premiere, MindManager (Mindjet) Mind Mapping (Buzan).
