Background
About Shane Mitchell
Shane has a long history of entrepreneurial ventures that tread off the path of traditional concepts. In the mid ‘70’s he worked with Jr. Food Mart, a chain of convenience stores, where he helped to develop their in-house restaurant concepts, a precursor to today's incorporation of fast food giants such as KFC and Mc Donald's into their operations. He was the first to introduce video game consoles into convenience stores in 1979, creating a new profit center for these businesses. He then founded a field service company for repair of Wang Laboratories minicomputers and was one of the first in the U.S. to break their monopoly on field service contracts, creating a competitive alternative to the manufacturer's services. In the early 1990's, Shane founded a dialup Internet company and became the first person to develop and deploy a wireless broadband network in the state of Texas, with over 26 years in wireless network deployment. Shane served as the President of Rock Solid Internet & Telephone, a CLEC & provider of broadband, VoIP, and TV services. Through the acquisition of ComCanada Communications of Vancouver Canada, the company has VoIP clients in Canada, Europe, and the U.S. with focus on the oil and gas industry. The company also provides broadband in hard-to-reach locations in rural America for solar and wind farms. He recently served on the Zoning Board of Adjustments for the City of Georgetown TX and has served as a member of the San Antonio Chamber of Commerce IT Committee, and has served on the boards of the Mississippi Salvation Army and IWSA. He has had the privilege of serving as a guest speaker or panelist for the National Association of Convenience Stores, the Super WiFi Summit, and the Wireless Internet Service Provider Association (WISPA). Shane is a member of the Entrepreneurs Organization (EO) and has served on the IT committee for the EO Global entity. He currently mentors new and young business owners on a volunteer basis.
