About Shane Packer

17 years' experience in the lumber manufacturing business. Experience ranges from entry level cleanup to Superintendent. I entered into a management roll in 2010 as a planer supervisor during a planer mill rebuild. I played a key role in continuous improvement, contractor liaison, employee engagement, asset management, and employee safety training on the use of new equipment. I moved into the role of sawmill supervisor in 2012 during which time a new 30" canter was being installed. I played the same key roles in the efficient and safe implementation of the upgraded machinery into our production flow. In 2016 I advanced into the role of maintenance planner. In this roll my scope broadened by dealing with many different management and hourly stake holders and grew my experience in planning, estimating, scheduling, and implementing maintenance activities in accordance with the companies' objectives. In 2021 I accepted the position of maintenance superintendent and in 2022 I accepted the role of Planer production superintendent. In these roles I have been responsible for various capital projects, from the planning phase to commissioning. My progression from an entry-level clean-up role to a leadership position has granted me a nuanced insight into the intricacies of the lumber industry and the running of a large production facility as a whole. People and their growth are our most important asset.
