About Shane Pill

Since 2006, Shane has worked in higher education. He has managed existing programs & initiated new degrees & curriculums as Coordinator of multiple degree programs. Shane has managed teams & developed plans to drive curriculum and research initiatives, most recently as Dean of Education and member of the Executive Leadership Team in the College of Education, Psychology and Social Work. Shane is one of Australia's leading coach educator's and developers, and thought leaders in physical education. He was a physical education and science teacher from 1988-2005, developing and leading curriculum & pastoral care initiatives, including twice leading school cluster group participation in the Australian Government Quality Teacher Program. He held leadership positions as Head of Department, Sport Coordinator, Year Level Coordinator, Curriculum Coordinator, Assistant Principal, & Deputy Principal. He has experience as chair and board member of not for profit organisations. Shane has extensive experience in managing and developing staff, good governance, generating, developing & implementing new initiatives, leading strategic planning. Shane's research is in the fields of sport coaching & physical education curriculum & pedagogy, & education leadership. He has authored over 150 peer reviewed & scholarly articles, & six resources on the concept of Play with Purpose using a Game Sense approach, and four Tier 1 publisher books. Shane is an experienced consultant & education provider to the sport & education industry, contributing to wellbeing, physical activity, sport & physical education work groups, committees & reference groups in South Australia & Australia. Shane has worked with: Dept of Education, Australian Sports Commission/Sport Australia, Tennis Australia, Cricket Australia, South Australian Cricket Association, Australian Football League, South Australian Football League, West Australian Football Commission, South Australian Certificate of Education Board, Rugby Australia, Lacrosse Australia, ACT Physical Activity Foundation, and Australian Rugby League. He has reviewed school programs locally and internationally, and presented keynotes and invited presentations in Australia, New Zealand, Hong Kong, Germany, Portugal, Netherlands, Ireland, USA, India and Singapore.
