I graduated in Environmental Science in 2016, with focus on auditing and water/waste issues. I completed a course in Green Impact Audit Training, furthering my auditing skills. Shortly after graduating, I joined Veolia as a recycling operative at a HWRC. Although I never considered this a job I wanted to do permanently, it gave me the opportunity to get my foot in the door in regards to the waste/water industry. It was also a medium in which I could communicate and educate on waste disposal, which I regularly did with customers/the public. Soon after, I joined Suez WCS as a technician. I mainly worked around domestic hot and cold water systems and closed systems. I completed key training modules in regards to L8 (level 2 qualifications in Legionella Awareness; Hot and Cold Water Systems + Cooling Towers and Evaporative Condensers, and Control of Water Borne Infections in Healthcare. I would advise customers in effective management of their water systems as a preventative method for bacterial proliferation. This is particularly important in healthcare facilities, where effective temperature and chemical control is needed. I am currently on a graduate scheme, tailored towards consultancy/account management, exploring the services our WCS business has to offer and areas of the wider water treatment industry. I have gained experience in the following areas: Engineering, Hygiene services, Chemical Production, Industrial water (raw water and effluent treatment), Laboratory and Field Analysis of water (Cooling towers, steam boilers, LPHW + CHW systems). I have increased my knowledge of relevant legislation (HTM-04, HSG274, BG50, BSG2486, BS8552), application of chemical treatment and correct relevant water chemistries, microbiological analysis, competency tested for field analysis of water, account management and solutions for water treatment issues. I am also completing extensive theory behind water treatment in the form of training modules for sales engineers.
