About Shane Satterley

Shane Satterley is a PhD Candidate at Griffith Business School in the Department of Government and International Relations. Shane has a Bachelor of Security, Terrorism and Counter Terrorism from Murdoch University, a Master of Policing, Intelligence and Counter Terrorism from Macquarie University and a Masters of Arts (Research) from Griffith University. In his Master of Arts Shane evaluated selected counter radicalisation and deradicalisation programs in Western and Muslim-majority countries. Shane has been named investigator on various research projects both domestically and internationally including Department of Premier and Cabinet, Social Cohesion and Countering Violent Extremism; United Nations Office in Geneva, Joint Inspection Unit, serving primarily on the project entitled Review of Safety and Security of UN Personnel and Premises World-wide. Shane also lectures on radicalisation, and counter radicalisation, and continues to consult government including more recently Queensland and New South Wales Police and the Australian Federal Police. Shane is currently exploring the connection between education and Islamist radicalisation in Australia for his PhD research. He contributes regularly to the national discussion surrounding radicalisation to all forms of religious and political extremism in Australia by appearing on various programs and publishing media articles.
