About Shannel Miranda

I am a post alum from University of California - Los Angeles, with a major in Psychology and minors in Education and Chicanx Studies. Most of my learning experiences and passions have come from interdisciplinary classes ranging from on a variety topics intersecting with education - classes on film and media as a portrayal of a race's discrimination in past, present, and future, early childhood mathematics and taking a new look on children's thinking, as well as other specific issues within education. Throughout my four years I have dedicated my time to a small yet incredibly welcoming student-run organization called the Central Valley Project. Our goal is to motivate, mentor, and empower high school students. I had the opportunity of taking multiple leadership experiences within the project all tailored to some aspect of community engagement. My greatest accomplishment within the organization has been in the focus on student retention - not only for the students we serve but with the members in our organization. As an education advocate, my intention is to always give the full story of higher education and help figure out what option most aligns with their goals, values, and hopes of the future. Now, with 3 years of working within the Education school system, I have enrolled in a Master's in Teaching program through Alder Graduate School of Education. By June 2023, I will have my Preliminary Multiple Subjects Credential with a Bilingual Authorization, with an open mind to any grade level at a school site.
