About Shannon M. Phillips

Shannon started work at Charleston Southern in the Spring of 1995. During his many years at CSU,he has transitioned from being an Admissions Counselor, to Computer Lab Manager, to Director of Computer Lab Services, to Executive Director of Information Technology Services, and most recently Chief Information Officer. Notable projects during his time as Lab Manager and Director of Lab Services include the research and implementation of software for resource scheduling, statistics, and printing software, as well as the design and setup of 5 new student labs, mobile laptop carts, and 2 Graphic Arts iMac labs. In 2007 Shannon finished a Masters degree in IT Management. After completing his Masters, he began teaching at CSU and Trident Technical College. In January of 2012, after serving as Acting Director of Administrative Services at CSU for 7 months, Shannon was named the Executive Director of Information Technology Services. During his time as Executive Director of Information Technology Services, Shannon oversaw the technology planning and installation in four office and building remodeling projects, as well as six new building construction and addition projects including the Whitfield Center for Christian Leadership, a new football facility, softball press box, new wings of the College of Nursing and Hunter Center, and the on campus Chick-fil-A. In November 2015, Shannon was named Chief Information Officer at Charleston Southern. During his time as CIO he has overseen the technology for several building construction projects, including a new campus Data Center, Health Science building for CSU's PA and DPT programs, and an expansion to the CSU Science Building. Most recently, Shannon was named Technical Director when Charleston Southern partnered with Dynamic Campus in 2020.
