About Shannon Monaghan

I am a Physician Assistant (PA-C, MPAS, MSc) with a strong passion for guiding patients through the challenges of menopausal transition, midlife health, geriatric medicine, and primary care for adults. My career is dedicated to helping women and older adults navigate complex health decisions with clarity, evidence-based treatment, and compassion. After taking time away from full-time clinical practice to raise my young children, I intentionally re-entered medicine at full speed by completing the Family & Community Medicine Advanced Practice Provider Residency at the University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine. This postgraduate training sharpened my inpatient and outpatient skills and included electives in Dermatology, Endocrinology, and Cardiology, as well as specialty sessions in the Menopause & Midlife Women’s Health Clinic. I have completed the Heather Hirsch Academy course: “Prescribe and Manage Hormone Therapy With Ease & Confidence” and am an active member of the North American Menopause Society (NAMS). These experiences reflect my commitment to advancing high-quality, evidence-based care in menopausal medicine and adult primary care. With more than six years of prior clinical experience in urgent care, family medicine, and international practice, I bring strong diagnostic skills, adaptability, and a history of excellent patient satisfaction. My focus now is on serving women in midlife and older adults—supporting healthy aging, optimizing quality of life, and empowering patients in their healthcare journeys.
