About Shannon Moninger

Shannon Moninger is a graduate from University of Alabama Birmingham Adult/Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner program. She is also ANCC certified. Shannon, as a registered nurse and esthetician owned an eyelash extension, waxing and skin care salon in Tallahassee, Florida. She is originally from Miami, and moved to Tallahassee when she received an academic scholarship to Florida State University. While attending college Shannon worked at the hospital on night shift as a monitor tech. She also became a Critical Care technician in the Emergency Room. This is where Shannon was introduced to the care of a patient and she become interested in being on the front line of medicine. Shannon dual enrolled in Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) school at TCC while still attending FSU, and graduated with a B.S. in Exercise Science and became a certified EMT. Shannon was a full time mother, worked two jobs, and attended nursing school when she was diagnosed with uterine and cervical cancer. For five months Shannon underwent surgeries and became very ill, nearly dying in the process. After many months of treatment, and surgeries, Shannon was diagnosed as cancer free in April 2010. Upon hearing that news Shannon decided it was time to take control of her life and do what she was passionate about. Shannon says, “I pull on all of my experiences in everything I do in life, whether it is educating patients, designing lash styles, applications, or holding the hand of families going through difficult times. I am looking forward to this next adventure in my life, and I hope my story of survival will make a difference in others’ lives.”
