About Shantanu Roy
Professor Shantanu Roy is a Chemical Engineer, currently serving as the Institute Chair Professor at IIT Delhi, and as the Executive Director of IIT Delhi - Abu Dhabi. He has a B.Tech. from IIT Delhi and an M.S. and D.Sc. from Washington University in St. Louis, USA. Prior to joining IIT Delhi in 2004, Prof. Roy gained valuable industry experience at Corning Incorporated in New York. Prof. Roy's two-decade-long research focuses on computational flow modeling, non-invasive imaging of multiphase flows, and process intensification. Recognized as a Technical Expert for the IAEA, Prof. Roy has made significant contributions to the use of radiotracers in multiphase reactors. With over 100 peer-reviewed research publications, six patents, and 200 conference presentations, Prof. Roy is a prolific researcher with a global impact. As an Institute Chair Professor, he has also served in key administrative roles, including Associate Dean Academics and Dean – Academics at IIT Delhi. He has served as chair and advisory board members of several international conferences, as reviewer for key scientific journals in chemical engineering, and on several high level expert committees of Government of India. Recently appointed as the first Executive Director of IIT Delhi – Abu Dhabi in January 2024, Prof. Roy continues to drive innovation and collaboration in academia and industry. His leadership and technical expertise are recognized in the academic and scientific community.
