About Shaohui Wang

My research focuses on pathogenesis of Clostridioides difficile. 1) Physiology, virulence, pathogenesis and antibiotic resistance of C. difficile; 2) C. difficile vaccine development against CDI (C. difficile infection); 3) The roles of innate immunity and intestinal microbiome in the pathogenesis of CDI; 4) Signaling pathways of pro-inflammatory mediators and CDI. I have a broad background in molecular biology and microbiology. The methods that I am using includes 1) regular molecular techniques, such as PCR, real-time PCR, Western blot, immunoprecipitation, RNA Sequencing, protein expression and ELISA, etc; 2) cell culture technologies, such as cell isolation, staining, identification and primary culture; and 3) Microbiology culture, protein expression system, tissue-specific knockout using cre-loxp system and transgenic mouse models, etc. 4) Animal experiments using mice and hamsters.
